Is Smalley Road Runners a fully affiliated club?
Yes, Smalley Road Runners is a fully affliated club and you can join either as an affiliated member or as a casual member. Being fully affiliated entitles you to various discounts to races rather than running as an ‘unattached runner’
Do I need lots of expensive running kit to take part?
Not at all. We advise getting a good pair of trainers and wearing clothers you are comfortable running in. Most people wear shorts, tracksuit bottoms or leggings and a t-shirt or layers in colder weather. Once you are up and running with us (pardon the pun) we have a range of club kit available to purchase so you can feel part of the SRR family.
Can I come along for a trial session before I decide to join?
Yes, we run every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm from Heanor Conservative Club. The first session is free. Just drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you are coming!
Are the sessions split into ability?
We generally run a beginners group, intermediate and advanced group for the more seasoned runners at each session and session content can vary from different length runs to interval training to technique sessions.
I’m new to running, what if I can’t keep up with the group?
Not a problem, we designate back-runners for each run so no-one is ever left behind.
If I join the club do I have to commit to running races?
Our members regularly take part in races however it’s not a condition of membership and you can just run for fun or fitness if that’s what you prefer!
